- Ousainou Darboe (born 8 August 1948) is a Gambian human rights lawyer and politician. He is leader of the country's main opposition party, the United Democratic Party (UDP). He first ran for president in September 1996, following a military coup two years earlier. Running as the candidate of his newly formed United Democratic Party. The executive members of UDP include - Yaya Jallow, Ebraima Manneh, Amadou Taal, Lawyer Mariam Denton and Momodou N Shyngle Nyassi etc among others
